Across Scotland, adults with dyslexia are having to pay to prove their disability. If dyslexia is not diagnosed at school, many people can go on to struggle later in life without the support that is in place for those with a diagnosis.
I want the Scottish Government to recognise that this is unfair, and no one should be held back as a result. This year I have been advocating for the Government to provide free dyslexia tests for adults in Scotland. I have also welcomed the reconstitution of the Scottish Parliament’s Cross-Party Group on Dyslexia. I hope that this group will be able to steer the Government’s legislative agenda towards adopting a fairer approach to adult dyslexia tests.
