Borders MSP Rachael Hamilton has praised volunteers working with the local dementia cafe in Hawick after meeting members of the group last week.
The MSP spoke with carers, volunteers and a representative of Alzheimer’s Scotland who are helping people living with dementia by providing informal advice, friendly discussion and information on how others are living well with the condition.
The group meets on the third Thursday of every month. It has recently changed its meeting place to the Salvation Army hall in Hawick.

“Groups like the Hawick dementia cafe play a vital role in our local communities by giving people who may need help some extra assistance.
"It was lovely to meet with attendees and the wonderful volunteers helping them with advice and support.
"The dedication of the volunteers and organisers is truly inspiring. Their work makes a huge difference to people's lives.
"This cafe, and others like it across the Borders, can be invaluable for people living with dementia and their families.
