Rachael Hamilton MSP is supporting the Samaritans Brew Monday campaign which aims to promote mental health awareness.
Monday 18th January sees Samaritans kick off their ‘Brew Monday’ campaign, and this year they are encouraging everyone to say connected with a virtual cuppa this winter.
It has been noted that the third Monday in January, ‘Blue Monday’, is often labelled the most depressing day of the year. Samaritans want to change that and turn Blue Monday on its head.
They are encouraging people to share a virtual cuppa with friends, family and colleagues to celebrate Brew Monday.
The Covid pandemic has been a challenging time for many, with a rise in people experiencing mental health problems.
Samaritans is a critical service, needed now more than ever. Their volunteers are working hard to minimise disruption to their services and support the people who need them.
Mrs Hamilton is encouraging Borderers to stay connected with friends and loved ones at a time when many feel isolated.
Rachael Hamilton MSP said:
“Samaritans have been fantastic this year in helping people through the crisis, and the Brew Monday campaign is a brilliant initiative.
“I would encourage all Borderers to check on loved ones and friends during these dark winter days.
“Get involved and share your virtual coffee break selfie to raise awareness of the work of the Samaritans, you can even do this over video call when working from home.
“Ensuring we stay positive and promote good mental wellbeing is crucial during lockdown.
