Rachael Hamilton MSP has said more support is needed for farmers from both the Scottish and UK governments following a visit to the British Wool base in Selkirk.
Scottish Borders MSP, Rachael Hamilton, said: "It was fantastic to visit this outstanding facility and see how they prepare the wool for use in amazing products from tartan fabrics to carpets to clothes to insulation.
"We need more skilled jobs in the Borders like those provided by British Wool, but that can only happen if politicians do more to support small businesses, especially in rural areas.
"Farming businesses have been overlooked and ignored in recent years.
"Both the Scottish and UK governments need to better recognise the fundamental contribution of farmers to our economy, our environment, and the UK's food security.
"They should be looking to assist farmers to produce more right here in Scotland, instead of introducing the damaging Family Farm Tax, which will only force us to import more costly foreign produce at higher prices."
