Local MSP Rachael Hamilton recently met with the TransPennine Express to discuss changes to their timetable and improvements to services.
On Monday, the Borders MSP met with Graham Meiklejohn, head of regional development for stakeholders and communities at the TransPennine Express.
Mrs Hamilton described the meeting as positive and said she is hopeful of further improvements to local services.
Borders MSP, Rachael Hamilton, said: "We need better, more reliable and more affordable rail services in the Borders to encourage more people to use public transport.
"It is great to see TransPennine Express putting on more trains through the Borders to the south, which will help local people who travel for business or need to visit friends and family.
"Passengers who use Reston will benefit from the new timetable, which I very much welcome.
"I hope to see further efforts soon to better integrate bus and rail services in a way that suits the surrounding communities.
"Thank you to the TransPennine Express for meeting with me and for their ongoing efforts to improve railway services for Borders residents."
