Local MSP Rachael Hamilton has praised the “incredible efforts” of unpaid carers after joining them in Galashiels prior to their trip with the Borders Carers Centre to Dawyck Gardens.
The trip was organised to mark Carers Week 2025 which is seeking to highlight the inequalities faced by unpaid carers.
Scottish Borders MSP, Rachael Hamilton, said: “Carers are truly unsung heroes who go to great lengths to look after others.
“I want to pay tribute to the incredible efforts of unpaid carers. Their selfless dedication is remarkable.
“It was a pleasure to join this group of amazing people, hear their stories and listen to the challenges they face.
“It’s important that we do everything we can to help unpaid carers, who often miss out on opportunities in education, careers or personal lives because of the work that they do for others.”
