Local MSP, Rachael Hamilton, visited Forbes Technologies Ltd to show her support for Scottish Apprenticeship week (5-9 March).
The week is held to encourage more employers to take on apprentices and more young people to consider an apprenticeship.
At Forbes, Mrs Hamilton learnt about the strong apprenticeship programme and the work Forbes perform.
Forbes specialise in the production of industrial plastic tanks, bunded chemical storage tanks and environmental technologies. Forbes supply virtually every field of industrial activity worldwide and engage with business from ‘Kelso to Kazakhstan’.
Rachael Hamilton MSP said: "I am proud to support Scottish Apprenticeship Week with a visit to Forbes in Kelso. Apprenticeships are really important to upskill our young workforce and give them the best opportunities in life.
"Forbes Kelso has a fantastic apprenticeship programme and I really enjoyed my visit to the factory learning about the programme and the work Forbes do.
"I’m fully behind efforts to encourage more employers to take on apprentices and I hope more follow the example of Forbes and do just that."
Kevin Johnston, Forbes Kelso Operations Director said: "Forbes are committed to training our own apprentices and retaining them so we can continue to build our business and expand our turnover. Our industry skills are bespoke so in-house apprenticeships will always be invaluable for us. Next year Forbes will celebrate 50years in Kelso, 1969-2019."
