Rachael Hamilton MSP welcomes Ofcom’s new Fairness for Customers commitment, which offer better customer service for broadband users.
They aim to help ensure people are always treated fairly by their provider – whether they are signing up to a new deal, trying to fix a problem or switching to a new company.
All of the UK’s biggest providers have signed-up to the commitments such as BT, EE, Sky and TalkTalk. This covers the vast majority of broadband, mobile, pay-TV and home phone customers.
Ms Hamilton has demanded fairness for Borders’ broadband users, as the area has some of the slowest broadband speeds in Scotland.
Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire MSP, Rachael Hamilton said:
“I am glad that Ofcom has committed to greater fairness when it comes to how broadband companies treat customers.
“Many constituents have come to me about their terrible broadband service, and the larger companies quite often do not give them the service they deserve.
“I hope this new commitment will mean that poor customer service will become a thing of the past, and with the majority of the major providers on board, it means that there will be a positive change.
“I hope this works well for the people of the Borders, and means we get a fairer deal”.
