Following the recent announcement that A&E waiting targets have not been met for a year, there has been growing pressure on SNP Ministers to take action.
NHS Borders has failed to meet the target this week with only 85% of patients being seen within 4 hours of arriving at Accident and Emergency. Exactly a year ago, NHS Borders met this target.
The 95% target to be admitted, transferred or discharged within 4 hours has only been met by a minority of health boards across Scotland.
The number of people attending A&E in the Borders has increased by 14 per cent, from 576 attendees in 2017 to 657 in 2018.
Rachael Hamilton MSP commented:
‘NHS Borders A&E waiting times too long and are showing little sign of improvement’
‘Scottish Conservatives called on SNP Ministers to do more to support our hard working NHS staff and improve waiting times for patients’
‘The increased pressure on A&E services has to be addressed and SNP Ministers need to acknowledge that the current GP crisis is making things worse’
