Last Friday, 21st July, a new Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) community hub was in opened Hawick.
Rachael Hamilton MSP and John Lamont MP helped to open the community hub at an event that was also attended by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Mr John Scott as well as members of the Hawick and District Stroke Group.
The decision to open a bigger unit was made by CHSS to allow for a community hub as well as a shop that will boast clothes and greeting cards.
The hub aims to provide real benefit to the community and where a team will available to chat about the services CHSS provide for people living with lung disease, heart conditions and the effects of a stroke.
Rachael Hamilton MSP for member for Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire constituency said:
‘It was a real honour to be invited to help open the new Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland community hub in Hawick. This hub shows real ambition from the CHSS to make a real difference in our community.
‘The shop will boost Hawick’s high street and the hub will provide an invaluable service and support to those living with lung disease, heart conditions and the effects of stroke. This new hub will be a real asset to Hawick and the surrounding areas.'
John Lamont MP for member for Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk constituency said:
“I was really pleased to help out with the opening of the new community hub on the High street last week. The new hub opened in the old premises of Store Twenty One on the High Street, so it was great that CHSS could take on one of the empty premises in Hawick. Alongside a charity shop, the hub will be a place for locals to access all of the many services Chest, Heart and Stroke offers. I’d encourage anyone who thinks they might benefit from a bit of support preventing or dealing with heart disease or stroke to pay them a visit.”
