Rachael Hamilton MSP attended the opening ceremony of the new Scottish Parliament session last week, where His Majesty King Charles III and Queen Camilla were welcomed to Holyrood.
Joining Rachael Hamilton as her guest was her 2026 Local Hero, Archie Hume, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the local community.
He was recognised for his volunteer work with flower displays, the community larder, Christmas lights and more.
Borders MSP Rachael Hamilton said: “It was a real honour to attend this ceremony to welcome His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla to Holyrood.
“I was especially pleased to be joined by my 2026 Local Hero, Archie Hume. Archie has made an enormous contribution to the Kelso community over many years, and this was a fitting opportunity to recognise everything he has done.
"It was a privilege to thank Archie personally for his dedication and all the hard work he has put in over the years for the benefit of Kelso and surrounding communities."
