12th December saw the second annual Scottish Conservative Bake Off competition. The event was sponsored by Rachael Hamilton MSP and judged by Jan Little and Liz Howieson from the Newmill and Teviothead Scottish Women’s Institute.
Each office was asked to contribute a cake to be judged by the special judges.
Judging was based on the criteria of presentation, taste and texture. The winners with Snow Scene Victoria Sponge came from the office of South Scotland MSP, Brian Whittle.
Other entrants included a banana loaf, ginger bread house, double chocolate Christmas cake and a lemon drizzle.
At the end of the judging contestants were invited to display their cakes and for others to purchase slices for a donation to the Bethany Christian Trust.
In total over £130 was raised.
Rachael Hamilton MSP's office presented a modern take on a Christmas pudding - it did not place.
Rachael Hamilton MSP said: "It’s important to do something for charity – and what better way than to get my colleagues to bake tasty treats for us all to consume for the good of others.
"I was pleased that everyone got in the spirit of Christmas and get baking for a great cause.
"Many thanks to Jan and Liz for their expert judging."
