I was proud to stand up for women’s rights and safety when the SNP brought the GRR Bill forward.
That Bill was a shambles. It was poorly drafted, contained numerous loopholes that would play into the hands of sex offenders, and ignored the views of thousands of women in Scotland.
I was pleased, after holding discussions with members of the UK Government, that they stepped in to prevent it becoming law.
If it had been allowed to go ahead, it would have risked women’s safety, reduced our right to single-sex spaces, and had a negative impact on equalities legislation.
I will keep fighting to protect women’s rights and safety from any harm from the SNP-Green Government.
