Borders MSP, Rachael Hamilton has expressed her concern at that the Jedburgh company is projected to make a loss for a second year, impacting on local jobs.
Mainetti employs more than 350 staff in Jedburgh and hopes to achieve the reduction via voluntary redundancies. Around 50 jobs could be lost due to a restructuring programme.
The company hopes to achieve the reduction of posts by voluntary redundancy.
Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire MSP, Rachael Hamilton said:
“This is worrying news emerging from Mainetti in Jedburgh, especially in the run up to Christmas.
“The loss of 50 jobs is a huge hit for Jedburgh and the wider area, and I will contacting Mainetti in the coming days to discuss what can be done to ensure that job losses are kept to a minimum.
“Should any employees of Mainetti require assistance; my office is open and I will endeavour to do our best to offer support where possible”.
