A very festive robin created by Eyemouth High School pupil Cameron Carvill has been chosen as the winner of John Lamont MP and Rachael Hamilton MSP’s Christmas Card Competition this year.
Now in its 12th year, this local competition asks young people from across the Borders to submit their entries to appear on the front of a card to be sent out to over 4,000 people across the Scottish Borders and beyond.
Prizes are donated by local companies, with Scottish Power, Mainetti, Douglas Home & Co, Lothian Estates and Buccleuch Estate sponsoring the 2018 competition.
As the best entry, Cameron won an acrylic art set and some other art supplies, to help him develop his obvious artistic abilities. Runners up won book vouchers, seat-cases and mini art sets.
The runners up were:
Lelia Hewison, Aged 6 from Kelso
Belle Hume, P3, Yarrow Primary School
Florence Brookes, P6 Ednam Primary School
Max Hewson, P1, Kirkhope Primary School

“I had a great time judging all the wonderful entries to this year’s competition, and there were so many to choose from. Well done Cameron!
“Congratulations must go also to the runners up, it was a really difficult decision to make, as all the entries were excellent and the competition was really high.
“We hope Cameron enjoys using his new fantastic art supplies, perfect for a keen artist.
“Thanks to the sponsors for all their support too, without whom we could not carry out the Christmas card"
