Local MSP Rachael Hamilton met with RBS Community Banker, Emma Baxter, to discuss banking options available after the local RBS branch in Eyemouth closes on 11th June.
Rachael Hamilton discussed measures to help mitigate the closures set to go ahead despite intensive campaigning to keep the branches open by Mrs Hamilton and MP, John Lamont.
Eyemouth Library will now offer a monthly community banking service.
RBS Community banking provides customers personal assistance and support to access non-cash services. It will help customers to achieve their financial plans and goals – replicating many of the services available in branches and offering a face-to-face service to the community.
Rachael Hamilton MSP said: ‘Although I remain disappointed by RBS’s decision to close vital branches I am pleased that community banking will be utilised at Eyemouth Library.
‘Now more than ever we must use our local services to help mitigate against decisions taken outwith our control.
‘I hope that constituents make use of this service and by doing so remind RBS of the need for a local branch in Eyemouth. In the meantime I will continue to campaign to see these branches stay open and if it comes to it, reinstated.’
Eyemouth Library will offer a monthly community banking service.
